Overview

Costa Rica is an absolutely amazing country with its immense diversity of nature and wildlife. 5% of all the world’s species are found here and 25% of the country’s area is protected national parks. The country has 12 micro climates and both the Pacific Coast and the Caribbean Coast are filled with beautiful beaches. Majestic mountain ranges cross the country with more than 200 volcanic formations surrounded by magical rainforests. This makes Costa Rica a great place to visit for a Hiking and Trekking tour!

We welcome you to take part in one of the many Hiking and Trekking tours that we organize in Costa Rica. There are trails for all ages and physical preferences. You can join us for a shorter hike of an hour with a professional bilingual guide or go for very physically demanding hikes for 15 miles (24 kms.) or something in between.

If you join us for a trip to Tortuguero in the northeast part of Costa Rica on the Caribbean side a guided hike is included in many of our lodges and we’ll hike for about one hour at a slow pace where we will have the opportunity to watch many species of birds and mammals.

In Arenal we offer you a hike around the massive Volcano Arenal. During this hike our guide will show us the flora and fauna around the volcano and its beautiful scenery. We will get to learn the history of the volcano and the area surrounding it.

While we are in the amazing cloud forest of Monteverde we can combine a 2-hour hike in the rainforest on a trail that takes us through the lush forest. Parts of the hike will be on suspension bridges that will allow us great views of the forest from above the treetops.

One of our favorite places in Costa Rica to go on a Hiking and Trekking tour is Corcovado on the Osa Peninsula. This magical place is world-renowned for its untouched nature and many species of plants, trees, birds, and mammals. Here you can choose to go on shorter hikes or hikes that will last almost a day. The animals that can be seen here are monkeys such as capuchin, howler, squirrel, and spider monkeys. There are two-toed and three-toed sloths, jaguars, pumas, ocelots, jaguarondis, tapirs, anteaters, deer, pacas, peccaries, coaties, and much more. There are many reptiles and amphibians including all four species of sea turtles that nest on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica: Leatherback, Olive Ridley, Loggerhead, and Pacific green turtles. There are also caiman, crocodiles, iguanas, numerous species of lizards, and snakes. In addition, there are several species of dart, glass, and tree frogs and salamanders. Corcovado is also home for many species of birds including trogons, hummingbirds, a large population of scarlett macaws, red-lored parrots, parakeets, and king vulture to name a few. Closer to the coastline estuaries, egrets, herons, and kingfishers are all common.
