Overview

Costa Rica is the perfect location if you want to travel eco-friendly and get to know nature and wildlife a lot more. Corcovado & Drake Bay is the best place in Costa Rica to visit due to its superior diversity in representation of species. Half of all Costa Rica’s species are found here on this magical peninsula, and it’s definitely worth a visit during your stay in the country! Drake Bay is one of the most famous locations on the peninsula. It was named after a notorious pirate, Sir Francis Drake, from the 1500s who roamed the area and may or may not have left a big treasure behind him in the area.

Playa San Josecito is the main beach located in Drake Bay. It’s a beautiful beach surrounded by nature preserves, parks, and amazing forest. A lot of the hikes start from here as the trails go through the tropical forest in the area. Drake Bay is accessible by boat or by domestic flights, and we’ll help you get there conveniently.

Just a little bit south of Drake Bay is the entrance to Corcovado National Park. This is an amazing natural park with great trails and beautiful beaches. It’s one of the most diverse ecosystems in the world, and there are 13 different ecosystems in this park. The national park was founded in 1975 to protect nature and wildlife from gold mining and logging, and today it is one of the most important reserves in the country. The park has more than 41,000 hectares and has over 140 different mammals, 400 bird species, 116 amphibian and reptile species, 40 species of fish, and 500 species of trees. Some of the animals that can be found on this part of the Osa Peninsula is the harbor squirrel monkey, indigenous wildcats, crocodiles, humpback whales, poison arrow frogs, tapirs, jaguars, pumas, scarlet macaws, and four species of turtles.

The marine life of Corcovado & Drake Bay is amazing as well. The great coral reefs outside the peninsula offer great snorkeling, scuba diving, and swimming. The species that live in the ocean here are humpback whales, dolphins, manta rays, sea turtles, all kinds of fish, and even manatees.

When planning your trip to Corcovado & Drake Bay we’ll help you organize your trip to your preferences. We can reserve hotels that include all meals, hikes in Corcovado National Park, snorkeling in Caño Island, mangrove visits, kayaking, some excellent sport fishing, and a lot more.
