Overview
A great way to discover Costa Rica and its marine life is by taking a lesson and going Stand up paddle board with us. Most beach towns in Costa Rica offer this great way of combining fun with exercise. We offer lessons both for beginners and more experienced paddle boarders. A very popular activity is the Paddle board flat water tour/lesson. This is a great experience for beginners and families as our professional instructors take us out to learn. The first lesson includes finding the sweet spot for balance and comfort, paddling technique and basic turning technique. The lesson is about two hours and you'll comfortably be paddling comfortably within 10 minutes.
If you are more experienced you can choose to go on a paddle board surfing lesson. This is great fun and it perfectly combines with speeding up your learning process. Anyone can learn how to Stand up paddle board and we’ll help you improve in no time. This lesson focuses more on the following: basic safety and weather, self-rescue, 3 different types of turning techniques, correct body posture and paddling technique, power strokes and paddling upwind, using your paddle for balance, what board is best for you, the quickest way to progress from your first lesson. With all these tips you’ll progress quickly and get a completely a new perspective on your paddle board skills and where to go next.
The faster you progress the easier it will be for you to rent your own board and practice on your own.
Tamarindo is a very nice beach town in Guanacaste on the northwest coast of Costa Rica. The place is known for being great to learn for beginner surfers as well as stand up paddle boarders. The water is normally calm and the setting is amazing as you have the beautiful beach and all its tropical restaurants.
Rio Nosara is another great place for SUP as it is one of the largest rivers of the region. It’s a great place to visit during the rainy season between June and November, the river is calm and surrounded by incredible wildlife. The tour ends with us coming out on Nosara’s river mouth.
