ATV Tour
Overview
Costa Rica is full of activities and adventures available to you during your vacation in this beautiful country. If you like motor-driven activities but you are not looking for a rental car an ATV Tour is a great way to meet your needs. ATV is short for All Terrain Vehicle and it’s a 4x4 vehicle that works great, as the name suggests, to drive around in nature and explore new places. The ATV is built for two people, a driver in the front and a passenger in the back like a motorcycle. If you want to drive an ATV in Costa Rica you need to be 16 years or older and have a valid driver’s license. If you are 12 years and older you’re allowed to ride in the back with an older driver. Sneakers or closed shoes are mandatory. This is a great way to enjoy adrenaline with your friends and family!
ATVs are found pretty much everywhere in Costa Rica at tourist destinations and we’ll tell you more about some of our favorites.
Tamarindo in Guanacaste on the northwest part of the Pacific Ocean offers many different ways and set ups to join an ATV Tour. You can go from 2 to 6 hours and you get to go through dirt roads, rivers, up- and downhill, mountains, mud pools (in rainy season) and of course, to many of the beautiful surrounding beaches such as Puerto Viejo, Bahia de Piratas, Playa Minas, Playa Flamingo, Playa Conchal, and Playa Potrero. When on the roads we will get to see livestock, wild animals such as armadillos, monkeys, iguanas, and many different bird species. Something important to remember when going on an ATV in Tamarindo is that the climate is very dry during the dry season months so there is not much water to cross over during these months. During the rainy season there are plenty of water and mud pools to drive through and then it's better to wear clothes that you are not worried about damaging. Let us know what weather conditions you prefer before making your reservation.
Other popular destinations for ATVs are Central Pacific with Jaco, Manuel Antonio, Quepos, and Playa Uvita. Let us know where you are going and we’ll set you up with your ATV depending on your location, come enjoy the fun!!
