Waterfall + Volcano Hike + Hot Springs

Costa Rica has more than 200 volcanic formations and the most famous one is the Volcano Arenal. The volcano was dormant for hundreds of years before it erupted in 1968 and buried the mountain town Tabacon in lava. The volcano was considered one of the most active volcanoes in the world until 2010 when it went dormant again. Many people from around the world still visit this beautiful area to watch the volcano and hike around it.

We here at Tulu Travel absolutely love the beautiful Volcano Arenal and its rainforest surroundings. Beside visiting and hiking around the massive volcano there are heaps of activities to do in the mountain town La Fortuna, which sits at the volcano’s foot.

Together with our previous guests we have put together a full day of activities that will give you memories for a lifetime. We start the day off with a horseback riding to the marvelous waterfall of Fortuna where we, on the backs of our four-hoofed friends, ride to watch the water fall 200 feet (70 m) into the rainforest hidden lagoon.

After this exciting horseback riding experience, we get some time of our own where there is plenty of time to go and enjoy a local lunch in the town or at your hotel.

The afternoon activities start off with us going to the Volcano Arenal for a hike where our professional wildlife guide will take us walking around the foot of the volcano telling us about its history and the nature surrounding it. When taking this hike, we really understand and appreciate the powers of mother earth.
When we have finished our natural hike, we get picked up to go to one of the many hot springs in the area depending on your preference. These amazing, natural, mineral hot springs are heated by the Volcano Arenal and we spend our afternoon spoiling ourselves in the rainforest setting. We round up the evening by having dinner at the hot springs before we return to the hotel with a memory for life.

This full-day adventure can be customized to your liking; you can choose what parts you want to do during the day. If you don’t want to horseback ride to the waterfall you can choose to go by car. If you prefer only to do the hike or the hot springs that’s all up to you. If you decide to remove some parts the tour can also be done as a half-day tour to your liking.
